Please be aware that there is an additional Bank Holiday in 2022, which has been announced to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, There is also a change to one of the usual Bank Holiday dates.
The late May Bank Holiday (Spring Bank), usually on the last Monday of May, has been moved for 2022 to Thursday 2nd June 2022, and an additional ‘Platinum Jubilee’ Bank Holiday has been designated for Friday 3rd June 2022, giving a ‘4-day weekend’.
Whether you need to pay staff for the additional bank holiday in 2022 depends on the contract your employee is on. Unless the contract specifies the number of actual paid bank holidays (i.e. specifically 8), you will normally need to pay the additional day.
